The reports on the adult education situation in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Italy were produced as outputs within the framework of the Erasmus + project “Municipalities Supporting Adult Education”.  The project is implemented between 2020 and 2022.

Local authorities are the closest support institution for local people, working closely with local adult education providers. This determines the special role of local governments in adult education. The aim of the project is to develop and increase the role of local governments in supporting adult education, in order to promote greater participation of adults in education.

These reports provide an overview of the adult education landscape in Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Italy, which allows for comparing the situation in partner countries.

These reports are presented in several chapters. The first chapter characterizes the structure of inhabitants, age groups, national groups and density of population, as it influences the education system, the education offer and demand.

The second chapter looks at adult education practice and various models of organizing adult education. Chapter characterizes the work of different adult education providers.

The third chapter describes support available for adult education, strategies and normative regulations concerning adult education.

At the end of the reports, you can get acquainted with SWOT analysis, identifying strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to adult education.
